A small racism scandal had shaken Italian football before the international break. In matches between "Inter" and "Napoli," "Nerazzurri" defender Francesco Acerbi was accused of racism towards Napoli's defender Juan Jesus.
The Brazilian was convinced of F. Acerbi's unkind words. However, it was ultimately decided that the Italian defender was innocent. Jesus did not really agree with that decision.
The situation was clarified by "Inter" general manager Beppe Marotta: "In the case with Acerbi, we were deliberately silent. It's a complex issue no matter how you look at it. We asked Acerbi to describe what happened on the field exactly. He told us the truth, and we have no doubts or evidence of racial discrimination towards the opponent.
Therefore, we continue to support him, attorneys and experts have also expressed the same position. "Inter" will always support any initiative against discrimination. We are against racism and in this case, we are on Juan Jesus's side.
The decision must be respected, Acerbi is a professional and serious person. I don't think he could joke about such topics. I am not a judge, we asked the player to describe the situation and we have no doubts that it is the truth," said the "Inter" CEO.
