“Liverpool” strategist Brendan Rodgers warned Raheem Sterling that he will not be sold this upcoming summer even if he refuses to extend his contract with the club.
The 20-year-old winger rejected a transfer offer from the team from Merseyside back in October and insisted that he will make a decision about his future after the season. At that time, he was offered a weekly salary of €135,000.
“Even if a new agreement is not reached, Raheem will not be moving anywhere this summer. We made that clear from the beginning,” the coach said.
“I think Raheem now looks more relaxed. We had several good meetings. We talked very openly about personal matters as well.”
“This is not just about football. It’s all related to his own well-being, as he is still young and has been through a lot over the past few years, so I think he is in a good place right now.”
Rodgers also said he understands Sterling's desire to win trophies and compete in the strongest tournaments, but, according to the strategist, for now, “Liverpool” is the best club for the attacker.
