"At the moment, the legendary German national team and Munich "Bayern" footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger, who currently plays for Chicago Fire, announced on Tuesday that he will end his professional career after this season.
The 35-year-old midfielder announced his retirement on his social media account.
"Dear fans, the time has come, so after this season, I will end my professional career. I want to thank you, as well as Bayern, Manchester United, Fire teams, and the German national team. You helped me enjoy this wonderful period," - wrote the German on social media.
B. Schweinsteiger made his debut in the main team of Bayern in 2002 and played a total of 500 matches, won the Bundesliga championship eight times, lifted the German Cup seven times, and won UEFA Champions League trophies in 2013.
In 2015, the German moved to Manchester United, where he added league and FA Cup trophies to his collection. In 2017, B. Schweinsteiger moved to the USA, signing a contract with Chicago Fire.
B. Schweinsteiger is also a true legend of the German national team. He played 121 matches for his national team, and in 2014 helped Germany win the World Cup.
