MLS Commissioner Don Garber has confirmed that the league is interested in inviting the unwanted Bastian Schweinsteiger from "Manchester United" to the United States.
Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho cut off the 32-year-old veteran from the team this summer and instructed him to train separately. The German did not once appear on the field in the jersey of the English club this season.
"Of course, we are following Bastian's situation," Garber told the German magazine "Kicker." "He is well known to Americans - he played against our national team in the 2014 World Cup, as well as with Bayern against an MLS All-Star team. We would welcome him with open arms. He would be a leader for many young players."
FC Dallas President Dan Hunt also confirmed the following events: "Bastian is a great player. I have admired him and his teams' success. This is not a coincidence, as he is a winner. Currently, we have only one spot open and we want to fill it with a forward, but that may change."
