„Manchester United“ defender Bastian Schweinsteiger will be forced to miss three upcoming matches due to violent conduct against „West Ham“ defender Winston Reid.
The German national team player was accused on Monday of striking the New Zealand-born defender in a match that ended in a draw over the weekend. Match referee Mark Clattenburg and his assistants did not notice the incident, but after reviewing the match footage, the English Football Association has launched an investigation.
„Bastian Schweinsteiger has been punished with a three-match ban, effective immediately, for violent conduct that was not observed during the match but was captured on video footage,“ the FA stated in a press release.
Schweinsteiger will miss the upcoming matches against „Bournemouth“, „Norwich City“, and „Stoke City“, with his next opportunity to return to the pitch on December 28 against the „Chelsea“ team.
