London's "Chelsea" team will most likely be without one of their key defenders, Ben Chilwell, for the entire season. "Goal" journalist Nizaar Kinsella reports that B. Chilwell will have to undergo ACL surgery. The 25-year-old defender may be out of action for at least six months due to this surgery. B. Chilwell suffered the injury back in November during the Champions League match against the "Juventus" team, which "Chelsea" won 4-0. Initially, it was hoped that the Englishman could miss just a couple of months of football, but the most optimistic scenario did not materialize.
In the January transfer window, "Chelsea" may now look to sign a new left-back to temporarily replace B. Chilwell, as the team is currently left with only Marcos Alonso.
Ben Chilwell has to have surgery on his ACL and he is likely out for the season. A big blow for Chelsea. More on @goal: https://t.co/hVwkIuowpa #CFC - Nizaar Kinsella (@NizaarKinsella) December 28, 2021
