"Ballon d'Or" winner L. Modric: "It exceeded my dreams"

Luka Modric is experiencing an exhilarating period - the Croatian, who won individual awards in FIFA and UEFA elections, triumphed in Monday's "Ballon d'Or" awards ceremony and claimed the prize.

L. Modric, without much competition, was recognized as the best footballer on the planet this year. The 33-year-old Croat, despite his age, does not let his hard work prevent him from winning prestigious trophies.

After the triumph at the "Ballon d'Or" awards, speaking to Real Madrid's television, the Croatian said that he never even dreamed of winning the "Golden Ball".

"It is a wonderful and unique moment. It is a recognition for my entire career and the hard work I have put in all these years. I am proud to win these trophies," said L. Modric.

"It was a dream season, I cannot ask for anything more. We still have the world club cup ahead of us, so I hope we can finish the year on a high note.

This triumph at the "Ballon d'Or" awards is for all the people who support the Madrid team. I definitely had to put in a lot of work to get where I am now. When I started playing football, I wanted to achieve big goals, but winning this award exceeded all my dreams," added the Croatian.

L. Modric also added that Zinedine Zidane contributed a lot to this success: "I remember perfectly 2016 when he became our team coach. He called me and told me what he expected from me. Among all that, he said he saw me as a player who could win the "Golden Ball". When such a person tells you that, your morale reaches incredible heights."
