Strategist Roberto Mancini insists that before Thursday, the team will be joined by James Milner and Mario Balotelli.
Milner representing Aston Villa and his colleague from Inter Milan, Balotelli, should help after the international matches next week.
"We are close to an agreement with both players, but now they represent their national teams," said Mancini. "We hope to get both of them by Thursday. We have to wait a little."
This summer, Manchester City has already been joined by players such as Yaya Toure from Barcelona, David Silva from Valencia, Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio, as well as Jerome Boateng from Hamburg.
