Over the weekend, the 19th round of matches were played in the Spanish league, after which the newly inspired "Real" club, led by the new coach, pulled away slightly from their opponents, and the confidently leading "Barcelona" in the championship.

Although the attacking leader of "Barcelona," Samuel Eto'o, missed a penalty kick at the beginning of the match against "Real Sociedad," towards the end of the game he scored the winning goal with a header and brought three points to the Catalan team.

Meanwhile, in second place, Madrid's "Real" team finally solidified their position, able to recover from a missed goal in the match against "Zaragoza" and celebrated their third consecutive victory under coach W. Luxemburgo.

The match in Pamplona turned tragic, where "Osasuna" played against "Valencia" - just before the match, tragic news reached the defender of the Spanish champions, Marco Caneira, who learned that his eight-month-old daughter had died. There was talk of possibly interrupting the match, but it did not happen, and the Valencia players, overwhelmed by unpleasant thoughts, failed to break the resistance of their opponents.

For a long time considered a surprise of this season, "Espanyol" this time failed to win against "Bilbao Athletic," while "Sevilla," in fifth place, unexpectedly lost to the relegation zone team "Malaga." Another Seville club, "Betis," took advantage of the opportunity to move closer to their city neighbors by easily defeating "Mallorca" at home.

In the championship, the seventh position is held by "Villarreal," who won in a tough match against "Levante." The remaining three matches ended in draws - "Deportivo" played a 1-1 draw with "Numancia," the match between "Getafe" and "Atletico" also ended in a 1-1 draw, and there were no goals scored in the match between "Albacete" and "Racing."
