"Barcelona" defender Sergio Busquets is set to soon finish negotiations with the Catalan club for a new contract, reports the newspaper "El Mundo Deportivo".
According to the publication, both the player and his representative agent Jose Maria Orobitgas, as well as the team leaders, have already agreed on the most important aspects: the player's salary, duration, and release clause.
Busquets' current contract with "Barcelona" is valid until June 30, 2018, and the new agreement foresees extending cooperation for an additional two years, until the summer of 2020.
It is also intended to adjust the player's release clause, which currently stands at 150 million euros. The proposed new amount is 175 million euros. Any team wishing to acquire Busquets would have to pay this amount without direct negotiations with "Barcelona".
According to the player's agent, both parties still need to agree on certain economic aspects of the contract, which depend "on the overall situation in the football players market and the average salaries and bonuses of the team players".
In the main composition of "Barcelona", Busquets has been playing since 2008. With the team, the footballer has won the Spanish championship four times, as well as the country's Super Cup an equal number of times, triumphed in the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey twice, as well as in matches for the European Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
