After a six-year hiatus, "Barcelona" won the title of Spanish champions. Although on Saturday in the 36th round match they played 1-1 draw with "Levante" in Valencia, Barcelona's main competitor Madrid "Real" missed a great opportunity to reduce the lead and also played a draw with "Sevilla", allowing Barcelona to secure the championship title.

Now "Barcelona", with two rounds left, has a six point advantage over "Real", but can no longer be overtaken due to a better head-to-head result.

On Saturday evening, it seemed that "Barcelona" could become champions even before starting the match with "Levante". In Seville, Madrid "Real" conceded a goal in the 19th minute from a 30-meter shot by young talent Sergio Ramos. However, the result became level at the end of the first half when, while battling with Michael Owen, the ball was sent into his own goal by Javi Navarro after a pass from Roberto Carlos.

In the middle of the second half, the balance of power shifted to "Real" when Zinedine Zidane scored with a long shot against the "Sevilla" goalkeeper. At the end of the match, the hosts put pressure on "Real" gates and Brazilian Julio Baptista, sought after by many European giants, headed the ball into Iker Casillas' goal, securing a very important point for "Sevilla" in the fight for a place in the next year's UEFA Champions League.

In the later matches, "Barcelona" conceded a goal in the 34th minute, but the most productive player in the Spanish championship, Samuel Eto'o, scored a goal that secured the 17th Spanish champions title in the club's history.
