On Sunday, five more matches of the 28th round of the Spanish "La Liga" championship were played.
In Madrid, "Atletico" hosted the players of "Sevilla". Diego Simeone's team secured a 3-1 victory over the Andalusians, who have now failed to win three consecutive matches in Spain.
In the first half, the first goal was scored in the 37th minute - Diego Godin put the hosts ahead after a set-piece situation.
In the second half, the "Atletico" players continued to dictate the game, and in the 61st minute Antoine Griezmann increased the lead to two goals.
In the 77th minute, Koke scored the third goal into Sergio Rico's goal. In the 85th minute, Joaquin Correa scored a consolation goal for "Sevilla".
"Atletico", currently in fourth place, reduced the gap to "Sevilla" to two points, but still have a 10-point deficit from the leaders.
In other matches, "Leganes" and "Malaga" ended in a goalless draw, while "Sporting Gijon" and Vigo "Celta" achieved victories against their opponents.
In the last match of the evening, "Barcelona" hosted "Valencia". Luis Enrique's team emerged victorious with a 4-2 result against the "Bats".
In the 29th minute, Eliaquim Mangala scored with a header to put the visitors ahead, but Luis Suarez equalized in the 35th minute.
Not long after, in the 44th minute, the first goal scorer for "Valencia" Mangala fouled Suarez in the penalty area and was not only awarded a penalty, but also received a second yellow card and was sent off.
Lionel Messi scored a penalty to put the hosts ahead, but "Valencia" managed to equalize during the next attack when Munir El Haddadi scored after a brilliant pass from Jose Gaya.
In the second half, "Valencia" tried to hold on with ten men, but L. Messi and Andre Gomes added another goal each to secure the victory for Barcelona.
After the win, "Barca" reduced the gap to "Real" Madrid to just two points.
