Team veteran Sergi Roberto has signed a new one-year contract with "Barcelona." The 30-year-old Spaniard's contract was set to expire at the end of the 2021-2022 season, and due to Barcelona's financial situation, there were doubts about the player's future with the team. However, Barcelona announced that Roberto's contract is extended for another year, and his release clause will be €400 million. Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that in order to stay with the current team, Sergi Roberto had to reduce his salary. Last season, the player struggled with injuries, so he only played in 12 matches, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
