"Barcelona" fan explained why he brought a toy gun to the match.

Jose Manuel Perez Diaz will no longer be able to attend football stadiums in Spain.

A strict punishment was handed to the "Barcelona" fan due to a recent widely publicized incident, when he managed to bring a toy gun to the city derby match and use it to intimidate "Espanyol" fans.

53-year-old Diaz watched the match among the opposing team's supporters, and when "Barcelona" scored the first goal, the man fired several blank shots, as reported by "El Periodico."

"I had a fake gun. I didn't pose any threat to anyone, but still regret my actions," the fan said.

"Some radical 'Espanyol' fans didn't like my emotions and they started to get angry. I remember when 40 aggressively minded men approached the stands and came towards me.

"I was afraid for my life and I pulled out the gun. I aimed and fired two shots. Of course, no one was injured, but they were scared," Diaz spoke.

"Finally, security took me away, and later I received a ban from attending football stadiums and other public events."
