"Barcelona" guide: we would never pay as much as "Chelsea" for Torres © EuroFootball.com

The club's leaders were shocked to learn that London agreed to pay almost 59 million euros for Fernando Torres.

According to football director Raul Sanllehi, the Catalans wouldn't even consider paying such an amount.

"I was shocked by the sum that was spent. Especially considering that it is now mid-season. Barcelona would definitely not do that," said Sanllehi.

He also admitted that the Chelsea team strengthened, while Liverpool, who sold the Spanish player, weakened.

"Certainly, the added value to this deal was the fact that by strengthening their team, Chelsea weakened a rival," he stated.

It is worth noting that a year and a half ago, Barcelona paid 46 million euros for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and gave striker Samuel Eto'o.
