"The Barcelona team has chosen a new captain.

This procedure became necessary as the player who held this position, Sergi Roberto, departed the team during the offseason.

The elections were won by long-time club goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.

The four vice-captains are Ronald Araujo, Frenkie De Jong, Pedri, and Raphinha.

According to foreign media, these elections may have disappointed forward Robert Lewandowski, who again was not recognized as one of the team's leaders.
