Currently in third place in the Spanish championship, Real Sociedad's defender Aitor Lopez Rekarte, who is in 14th place, is of interest. The Spanish sports newspaper "Marca" reports that Barcelona is negotiating with the player for a possible transfer to the Catalan club this summer.
28-year-old Rekarte has represented only one club throughout his career: initially in the youth team, and made his debut in the main team in 1997 in a match against the Barcelona team.
Aitor Lopez Rekarte, who has previously played for the Spanish youth national team (up to 21 years old), is considered one of the most reliable players in his position in Spain. This season, he has appeared in all 32 matches for the Basque club.
These rumors gain weight because the current right-back of Barcelona, Dutchman Michael Reiziger, has stated that this summer, after his contract expires, he would like to move to one of the English clubs.
The 30-year-old Dutchman already intended to move to an English team last summer, but the deal did not go through because the English club did not offer him enough money.
Reiziger, who has previously played for clubs in the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, says that playing in England would be a new experience for him, but he immediately added that he has not made a final decision yet.
