The Dutch press claims that the leader of the Spanish championship will acquire the star of Eindhoven, Mark van Bommel, this summer.

The captain of "PSV" will almost certainly leave the club this summer, however, it is still unclear with which club the Dutch national team midfielder will sign a contract. Among the candidates are mentioned "Tottenham", Milan's "Inter", and Munich's "Bayern", but the most likely candidate is specifically "Barcelona".

For a while, the defensive midfielder was very actively interested by Madrid's "Real", but, after acquiring Danish defensive midfielder Thomas Gravesen from "Everton" in the winter, they withdrew from the battle for van Bommel.

For several years, it has been said that soon to celebrate his 28th birthday, Mark van Bommel has "outgrown" his "PSV" jersey and it is time for him to move to one of Europe's football giants, so his excellent performance in the weekend match against Amsterdam's "Ajax" (he scored three goals) only further fueled such talks.

Together with van Bommel, another player in the same position, Swiss Johannes Vogel, is likely to leave the club this summer. Vogel is likely to move to a club in Germany.
