"Barcelona" looks for alternatives to Fabregas © EuroFootball.com

Club vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu says that after an unsuccessful attempt to acquire Cesc Fabregas, "Blaugrana" will look for another footballer who can strengthen the defensive line.

However, he also added that initially they will be looking at the B team and then decide what to do. "We will not have to start everything from scratch - we are constantly working on this issue," he said.

"We presented two offers to Fabregas - one in June and the other at the beginning of August, but 'Arsenal' did not want to sell Cesc and rejected them. We did not receive a price requirement - they simply said 'no,'" Bartomeu also confirmed.

Bartomeu also confirmed that Aleksandr Hleb, Martin Caceres and Victor Sanchez will leave the team before the start of the new season.

"We are talking to several clubs about their loan. There are different possibilities, so we are looking for what would be best for all parties," says one of the leaders of the Spanish champions.
