"Barcelona" newcomer C.Bravo: I'm not afraid of competition

Chile's national team goalkeeper and captain Claudio Bravo officially became a member of "Barcelona".

On Monday morning, the 31-year-old footballer underwent a medical check-up by the club's doctors in Catalonia, who did not find any health problems, so there were no obstacles for C. Bravo to sign the contract. It will be valid for four years, until June 30, 2018.

"Barcelona" sports director Andoni Zubizarreta announced that the club paid 12 million euros for the Chilean to the San Sebastiano "Real Sociedad" team.

C. Bravo's contract includes a buyout clause of 40 million euros. Any team interested in purchasing the goalkeeper without direct negotiations with the Catalan team would have to pay this amount.

In the "Barcelona" club, C. Bravo will wear the number 13 jersey.

"I can't wait to start playing for my new club. The fact that Victor Valdes and Jose Manuel Pinto previously played here, and now I have to replace them, gives me a lot of motivation. I will not lack ambition. I will give it my all," said the new Barcelona player to "Barca TV" channel journalists.

To secure a spot in the starting lineup, the Chilean will have to compete with 22-year-old Marc-Andre ter Stegen, whom "Barcelona" also acquired from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.

"I think healthy and serious competition is beneficial and I'm not afraid of it. After all, my predecessors in the club have already set very high standards, so I will have to work hard," said C. Bravo.
