On Wednesday evening, another first match of the quarterfinal stage was played in the King's Cup.
Sevilla's footballers welcomed "Barcelona" at home without Lionel Messi. The Andalusians traveled to "Camp Nou" with a solid advantage - the Catalans suffered a defeat with a score of 0:2.
From the very beginning of the match, the Andalusians showed their horns to the tournament champions. Pablo Machin's players actively pressed the opponents and caused a lot of problems for the rival defenders.
In the "Barcelona" team, Kevin-Prince Boateng made his debut, but in 63 minutes on the field, he did not do much and gave way to the much more experienced Luis Suarez.
Just before the substitution, the Catalans were punished with the first goal by Pablo Sarabia. In the 58th minute, after Quincy Promes's pass into the penalty area, P. Sarabia redirected the ball into Jasper Cillessen's guarded goal in one touch.
Barcelona's game improved slightly after the appearances of L. Suarez and Coutinho on the field, but in the 76th minute, the visitors were forced to pull the ball out of their own net once again.
After a fantastic pass from Ever Banega, Wissam Ben Yedder broke free from the defender and shot the second goal into completely empty net. After the goal, the Frenchman paid tribute to the still missing Emiliano Sala.
For the rest of the time, "Sevilla" did not make any mistakes in defense and maintained a two-goal advantage for the second leg.
Barcelona has already shown in this tournament that they can bounce back after a loss in the first match - this scenario played out in the quarterfinal against Valencia's "Levante".
