„Barcelona“ team believes that the Super League project will still wipe everyone's noses in the future. Catalonia is one of the three teams that did not publicly announce their withdrawal from the scandalous project. „Barca“ thought that the Super League would help them dig themselves out of the debt avalanche - the club's debts amount to over a billion euros, and 700 million euros will need to be repaid this year. „Such a decision was made convinced that it would have been a historic mistake to reject the opportunity to participate in such a project as one of the tournament founders“, the team said in a statement. „We need more resources to show our greatness. I believe that in this area we will still receive support. Some clubs have faced pressure to withdraw, but the offer is still valid“, clarified „Barca“ president Joan Laporta. Meanwhile, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin hinted to the press on Thursday that he was very disappointed by all the clubs that had been considering the move, but most of all - by „Barcelona“. „Laporta was elected just over two months ago and he couldn't do much. The contract was signed, empowering the members to ratify it, which is a very clever decision“, said the Slovenian.
