The defender of the Spanish national team and club Carles Puyol may soon change clubs. His current team is trying to persuade him to stay. Due to "Barca" Puyol may move to England.
"Barcelona" is prepared to pay 12 million pounds to "Manchester United" and give Spanish national team player Carles Puyol for Dutch forward Ruud van Nistelrooy. Last year "Man Utd" was interested in the Spaniard, however "Barca" rejected all offers.
A month ago, "Man Utd" coach Alex Ferguson showed interest in Carles. The Spanish defender is the main target for the Scottish in the upcoming transfer window. Ferguson's brother attended games of "Barcelona", during which he observed the potential candidate. Representatives of "Manchester United" are also not discouraged by the fact that they will have to compete with Juventus, who are willing to give up David Trezeguet in case of Puyol's transfer to the "Old Lady".
Traditionally, the defender was also in the interest of London's Chelsea, but "Barcelona" immediately said "no" to Roman Abramovich.
“Barca” decided to simply benefit. The Catalans do not want to just sell a good player, so they propose a deal to the English. It is worth noting that Ruud van Nistelrooy's agent did not deny the sequence of events. He announced that everyone was informed about such a possible transfer and now it remains to start negotiations. Despite this, the "flying Dutchman" has a long-term contract with "Man Utd".
The Spanish defender is not having the best season, but Puyol receives the least criticism from the club's management. This defensive player did not give critics any reason even on his worst days.
The only problem for the footballer is that he is often plagued by various injuries. At the beginning of the year, Carles Puyol dropped out for 4-6 weeks due to a facial bone fracture. He received this injury in the Spanish Cup match against "Levante", colliding with opponent Edvin Congo. Last season, Puyol also suffered a similar injury, resulting in him playing several matches with a protective mask. Prior to that, the footballer had injured his collarbone and could not help his team in several important championship matches.
The outcome of the negotiations between "Barcelona" and "Man Utd" is unknown. It is clear only that Puyol will not be the loser. Even if he is traded, he will enter a not weaker league, and objectively, the Manchester club is no weaker than “Barcelona”. And he won't need to adapt to English football for long. In Spain, he played in defense like a true Englishman: always fought hard for the ball, bravely played to stop opponents. So who can accurately predict who will benefit from this deal: "Barca" or "Man Utd"?

"Barca" vice president Sandro Rossell denied rumors about this deal: "No, it's not true. There is no basis for this story. Carles Puyol will definitely stay in Barcelona. He is an important player and will not be sold."
However, Rossell admitted that the club would like to buy a good forward: "But a high-class forward will be the main priority in the summer, and it could possibly be the best forward in the world."
