The "Bayer" team won a dramatic victory at home and secured a ticket to the next stage by defeating the "Union" footballers 3:1 at home.
It was the guests who first scored in this match - Marcus Ingvartsen sent the ball into the net in the 39th minute.
The situation for the guests significantly complicated in the 71st minute, when Christopher Lenz was sent off the field, and just a minute later "Bayer" equalized the score after a goal by Karim Bellarabi.
In the 86th minute, Charles Aranguizas changed the score in favor of the hosts, and "Bayer" confirmed the victory in extra time through Moussa Diaby.
"Bayer" will meet the "Eintracht" team in the semi-finals, who defeated the "Werder" footballers 2:0 at home in the next match.
The hosts took the lead in the added time of the first half when Andre Silva converted a penalty kick after a long VAR review.
"Eintracht" secured the victory in the 60th minute through Daichi Kamada.
The hosts were forced to finish the match with a man down - Filip Kostic was sent off the field during the referee's added time.
