Preparation for exams often takes away free time, but for Leverkusen's defender Kai Havertz, this will cost him the opportunity to escape to the field of the UEFA Champions League. The 17-year-old became the youngest player in his club to play in the Bundesliga when he made his debut in a 2-1 loss against Bremen's Werder in October. The German had his first appearance in the Champions League in the first leg against Madrid's Atletico, but instead of the return match, he will be studying. Havertz did not travel with the team to Spain, where they will play against Atletico at the Vicente Calderon stadium tomorrow night. The German club will also have to do without the injured Omer Toprak, Jonathan Tah, Stefano Kiessling and Lars Bender, while Benjamin Henrichs is suspended.
