On Wednesday evening, the last two teams of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals were revealed - they were Munich's "Bayern" and London's "Chelsea". The latter team defeated Madrid's "Atletico" at home with a score of 2:0 and won the series with a total result of 3:0. The hosts were brought forward in the 34th minute after a counterattack by Hakim Ziyech. "Atletico's" situation became disastrous in the 82nd minute, when Stefan Savic was sent off the field for elbowing an opponent. "Chelsea" secured the victory in the 94th minute only after Emerson came on the field as a substitute.
The formalities were taken care of by the previous year's UEFA Champions League winners, the "Bayern" footballers, who defeated Rome's "Lazio" at home with a score of 2:1 and won the series with a total result of 6:2. The hosts took the lead in the 33rd minute when Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty kick from 11 yards. "Bayern" doubled their advantage in the 73rd minute through Max Choupo-Moting. The visitors scored a consolation goal in the 82nd minute through Marco Parolo.
The draw for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals will take place on Friday.
