Munich's „Bayern“ executive director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that the club feels robbed by the referees. „Bayern“ achieved a 2:1 victory on Tuesday evening against Madrid's „Atletico“ in the Champions League semifinal, but it was not enough for the German team to reach the final.
The overall result of the two matches was 2:2 and „Atletico“ progressed further due to the ratio of home and away goals.
Antoine Griezmann's goal gifted the victory to the Madrid club.
It was a classic counterattack, with Fernando Torres making a low pass to A.Griezmann, who sprinted towards the goal. Soon after, the Frenchman anticipated Manuel Neuer's movement and scored a goal.
K.H.Rummenigge is convinced that the sideline referee should have raised the flag. The German football legend believes that at the moment F.Torres made the pass, A.Griezmann was offside.
He also stumbled upon an 11-meter penalty against the „Bayern“ goal. However, F.Torres did not convert it. „We feel a bit cheated, – K.H.Rummenigge said after the match. – The „Atletico“ goal was offside, and we received an 11-meter penalty for a foul that occurred outside the penalty area. The referee had two matches in the last seven days. I don't know, maybe those UEFA guys have too many matches. A UEFA representative told me: „What he did was a disgrace.“
