"Bayern" is in no rush to extend P. Guardiola's contract

According to Bayern Munich's executive director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, despite the team's excellent performance, the club is not in a hurry to start negotiations for a new contract with head coach Pep Guardiola.

After spending four years at Barcelona, the Spaniard started his work in Germany only in the summer of 2013, but there are only 18 months left until the end of his contract.

In his first years, Guardiola and the team quickly secured the Bundesliga title and won the DFB Pokal. This season, after playing 16 matches in the national championship, Bavarians lead the closest pursuers by 11 points.

"We thought we would see some stumbling blocks before Christmas, but Guardiola's leadership was just fantastic," Rummenigge told Bild. "We will do everything to keep him."

"We highly value him, but his current contract will end in more than a year and a half. It is a very long period for him. He is not a person who needs long-term guarantees or better contract conditions."

"Now is not the right time to talk about extending the contract. When the time comes, we will see what happens."
