"Bayern" leader Rummenigge: we hoped for easier opponents © EuroFootball.com

Munich's Bayern club manager Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that he expected an easier opponent in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

In the first round of knockout matches, the Bavarian team will have to face London's Arsenal team, with which the team led by Jupp Heynckes competed last season.

Back then, Bayern's players defeated their opponents away with a score of 3 - 1, but almost faced a setback at home conceding 2 goals.

This season, fate brought these teams together again, but the Bayern club manager said he expected an easier opponent.

"There were more favorable and easier opponents in this draw. We would have been better off playing against Zenit, not the Arsenal team," Rummenigge said.

"However, we do not complain about the draw. Our future opponents deserve a lot of respect, so we will have to play well twice."

"With Germans in the team, the Arsenal squad shows more stability and is having a good season," the club manager assured.

The first Arsenal and Bayern match will be played on February 19th in London, with the return leg on March 11th in Munich.
