Active discussions arose before today's Bundesliga match between Berlin, fighting for survival, and Munich, currently in second place, after the hosts of a radio show in the capital offered 1 million euros (3.45 million litas) to a "Bayern" player who would score a goal into his own net during this match.

"Bayern" representatives immediately called this proposal ridiculous and said it was a tasteless demonstration, and the players themselves found it quite funny: "Well, let's see who could do that," joked defender Bastian Schweinsteiger. "Maybe Roy Makaay - after all, he is our top goal scorer."

Another candidate could be midfielder Michael Ballack. In his career, he has scored an own goal once and did so in last season's 6-3 victory of "Bayern" over "Hertha".

For the multiple-time German champions "Bayern", currently in second place and trailing by 9 points behind the leading "Werder", their footballers desperately need a victory in today's match to maintain at least minimal hopes of winning the championship.
