Surprise in the first Bundesliga match on Sunday - the leader Munich's "Bayern" unexpectedly lost to local "Arminia" in Bielefeld and failed to extend their lead against "Schalke", who now leveled on points after Saturday's victory.

For some time now, "Arminia" has been without a win but managed to defeat the league leader with a convincing 3-1 result in the snowy and packed Schuco-Arena, ending the successful series of the Bavarian club.

The hosts scored the first goal in the 23rd minute through M.Porcello, then D.Buckley doubled the lead after just over an hour of play. Even though a brilliant penalty goal from the Brazilian Lucio gave the visitors hope, Buckley secured the victory by beating O.Kahn eight minutes before the end.

In other matches, Leverkusen's "Bayer" conquered the resistance of "Mainz" at home and returned to the top six. The winners scored goals in the middle of the second half through P.Freier and J.Krzynowek.
