German champions Bayern Munich will no longer try to acquire Lisbon team's defender Fabio Coentrao.
The team's leaders were impressed by the 22-year-old Portuguese player's performance at the World Cup, so they nurtured the possibility of acquiring him in the near future. However, Benfica is asking for around 25 million for the defender.
"Coentrao is a great player, but the amount requested for him is too high," said one of Bayern's leaders Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "If Benfica doesn't reduce the requested amount, then the deal will definitely fall through."
