David Ornstein recently first announced Unai Emery becoming the new successor of Arsene Wenger, and now "BBC Sport" journalist reveals that London's "Arsenal" is close to reaching an agreement with Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
The Greek transfer is an initiative of recently appointed director of purchases Sven Mislintat, who previously worked at the German club.
The "Gunners" team wants to strengthen with experience and leadership, qualities which the 29-year-old footballer definitely possesses.
This season, Sokratis played 43 matches in all competitions and often showed leadership as Borussia's captain. He will be very important for Arsenal while Laurent Koscielny is recovering from injury.
In addition, Papastathopoulos will help the team integrate better with the recently arrived Greek player Konstantinos Mavropanos, who showed promise towards the end of the season despite receiving a red card.
Currently, the "Gunners" are also negotiating with free agent Stephan Lichtsteiner to sign.
