David Beckham has signed a new two-year contract with the Los Angeles "Galaxy" club.

The 36-year-old veteran was a free agent from the new year, so he actively negotiated with France's "Paris St.Germain". However, urged by his family, the footballer decided not to return to Europe and stay in the United States.

"This is an important decision," said Beckham. "I had many offers from clubs all over the world, but I feel passionate about playing in the USA and fighting for trophies with the 'Galaxy'."

He continued: "I realized how popular soccer is in this country, so I want to contribute to its growth. My family is settled and happy, so we plan to spend at least another year here."

Throughout his career, the midfielder has worn the shirts of teams such as "Man Utd" (1993-2003), "Preston" (1995), Madrid "Real" (2003-2007), "Milan" (2009 and 2010), and "Galaxy" (2007-present)."
