The European Football Championship in France was marked by the first bloody clashes of fans. On Saturday afternoon, in the old town of Marseille, supporters of the England and Russia teams clashed. Police had to use tear gas to stop the enraged fans. When tear gas spread, team supporters grabbed their flags and started shouting at the police. Hooligans started throwing whatever they could find, mostly chairs from nearby cafes and restaurants. According to initial reports, six individuals were arrested and at least five were injured, one of them seriously. According to the French news portal La Provence, about ten "Boulogne" football club ultras joined the Russian ultras and also participated in the clashes against the English fans.
