On Friday evening in Kazan, the second quarter-final match of the World Cup was played. Belgium created another sensation in this tournament - they scored two goals and eliminated Brazil from the World Cup. The match started without any particular dominance - Brazil had the ball longer, but Belgium closed down their defense. In the 7th minute, after a corner kick, the ball from Thiago Silva's foot hit the post, but the shot was very weak. In the 13th minute, the Brazilian national team was unexpectedly punished - after a corner kick, Fernandinho unfortunately scored an own goal and the score became 1-0 in favor of the Belgian team. After conceding the goal, Brazil tried to activate their game in the opponents' half, but they failed to respond with a quick goal - Coutinho and Marcelo's shots did not pose more problems for Thibaut Courtois. In the 31st minute, Brazil suffered another blow - Belgians increased their advantage to two goals after a quick transition from defense to attack, with Kevin De Bruyne scoring a fantastic goal. During the remainder of the first half, Brazilians could not find any breakthroughs against the Belgian defense, thus the teams went into the break with the score at 2-0. Brazil started the second half actively, but Belgium's dense defense left no space for the opponents. The pace of the match did not drop - Brazilian players dominated possession and looked for gaps in the opponents' defense. Neymar and Douglas Costa played dangerously from the wings, but they couldn't find any spaces. In the 76th minute, Brazil's hopes of a comeback returned - an amazing pass into the penalty area from Philippe Coutinho found Renato Augusto, who had just come on as a substitute, and he reduced the deficit to one goal with a precise header. In the 80th minute, the same R. Augusto almost leveled the score - the defender ran towards the opponent's penalty area unmarked and shot just wide of the goal. In the 93rd minute, Neymar had one last chance to equalize, but T. Courtois showed his mastery - the Belgian goalkeeper fantastically reacted to Neymar's shot and led his team to one of the most glorious victories in the country's history. Brazil, considered a favorite in the tournament, ended their performance in the quarter-finals. Belgium will face France in the semi-finals. Result: Brazil 1 - 2 Belgium 13' [0 - 1] Fernandinho (own goal) 31' [0 - 2] K. De Bruyne 76' [1 - 2] R. Augusto
