"Atletico" team from Madrid is outbidding its biggest competitors in Spain in terms of transfer sums. In an official statement, Lisbon's "Benfica" confirmed that they received a 126 million euro offer from Madrid's "Atletico" team for their prospect Joao Felix. This is an absolute transfer record for "Atletico". The 19-year-old J. Felix will become the fourth most expensive footballer of all time. Interestingly, "Atletico" offered 6 million euros more than the buyout clause specified in his contract - 120 million euros. It is said that "Los Rojiblancos" chose this option to distribute the money in installments, rather than paying the full buyout sum at once. It is now just a matter of time before "Benfica" officially accepts this amount of money, and J. Felix, who started playing professional football this season, will join "Atletico". The rising star of Portuguese football played 43 matches in the main team last season, scoring 20 goals and providing 11 assists. J. Felix is being acquired with the goal of replacing Antoine Griezmann, who is set to officially join the "Barcelona" club on July 1. "Atletico" will receive 120 million euros for him.
Benfica officially confirm Atletico Madrid made a 126M€ offer for João Félix, which is under consideration. Félix has a 120M€ release clause, but this offer is divided in installments and therefore doesn't trigger it. pic.twitter.com/qamORZsOP3
