AC Milan strategist Rafael Benitez insists that Roy Hodgson still has a lot to learn before criticizing him.

Benitez left Liverpool in the summer, and Hodgson, who replaced him, accused the Spaniard of not allowing the club's leaders, Kenny Dalglish, to participate in training.

"I think Hodgson simply doesn't understand," Benitez said. "Every press conference is worse than the one before. He talks about things he doesn't know."

"Maybe this coach has spent too little time with the team. We brought joy to the fans, fought for honor. Maybe he doesn't understand that," he continued.

Regarding the situation, Benitez added: "I invited Dalglish to the team, but one of the leaders, Christian Purslow, gave him different tasks. Hodgson doesn't know this, but I will explain. Instead of criticizing me, he should focus on the players. That's his job."

Benitez continued: "But the Champions League is better than the World Cup. It's unbelievable - how many fantastic matches we have played. Yes, I agree that the real fight starts after the group stage, but it's a fantastic tournament."
