For the second time in the club's history, Sevilla won the Copa del Rey. This trophy crowned an impressive season for the Andalusian club, during which Betis secured a spot in the next year's UEFA Champions League.

In an intriguing match at Madrid's Vicente Calderon stadium, Betis snatched victory from Pamplona only in extra time - with just five minutes left until the end of extra time, forward Dani scored.

Prior to that, after a scramble in Osasuna's penalty area, the ball was sent into the net by Brazilian Ricardo Oliveira, who had joined Betis from Valencia just this season. The score was equalized eight minutes later by Australia's John Aloisi, who had just come on as a substitute.
