Betting scandal in Spain: former "Real" player and "Huesca" president arrested

On Tuesday morning, the Spanish law enforcement detained a group of well-known individuals who are suspected of being involved in illegal football betting.

"Servimedia" reports that among those detained are former "Real" defender Raul Bravo, "Valladolid" player Borja Fernandez, Inigo Lopez from "Deportivo," and retired footballer Carlos Aranda.

The president of "Huesca," Agustin Lasosa, and the head of the club's medical department, Juan Carlos Galindo, were also detained.

The Spanish media reports that among the suspects may be several "La Liga" players, including Samuel Saiz from the "Getafe" team.

"La Liga" announced that in the 2018-2019 season, the police were informed about eight matches where illegal influence on the result may have been attempted.

There are also investigations into 18 cases in lower Spanish football leagues, where players may have been directly involved in betting activities.

The Spanish police hope to uncover the entire organized crime group linked to illegal betting.
