Blog: Review of the 2014-15 "Primera" Season

On the portal "EuroFootball.com" - football fan Subo's BLOGs about current football events.

The cycle continues forward. Today is the time for Spain.

GK Asenjo Villarreal/Spain

Once he arrived at Atletico as the best Spanish goalkeeper in less than 5 minutes. However, he only watched de Gea and others from the bench. This season he played in a way that could be considered for the future lineup of the Spanish national team. Villarreal conceded fewer goals even than Real.

LB Marcelo Real/Brazil

7 assists. The season was truly excellent for him individually. He was the terror of opposing defenders, very difficult to stop.

CB Otamendi Valencia/Argentina

I can't imagine how Valencia managed to attract a player who could start in any club in La Liga. He's a monster in defense, and when you add his 6 goals, you can expect a line of eager buyers.

CB Godin Atletico/Uruguay

Scored significantly fewer decisive or important goals this season. But his traditional passion and talent make up for everything. Another excellent season for one of the best center backs in the world.

RB Dani Alves Barcelona/Brazil

After a few slightly disappointing seasons, he seemed rejuvenated. He was very fast and sharp, with 6 assists. A great season. No wonder he's now pushing Barcelona management for better contract terms.

CM James Rodriguez Real/Colombia

There were many skeptics when James arrived at Santiago Bernabeu for a huge sum last summer. However, with 13 goals and 13 assists, he proved his worth. The best creator in La Liga this season.

CM Tiago Atletico/Portugal

The Portuguese veteran is like old wine - it's hard to remember a better season. He is a ruthless destroyer in the midfield, and with 5 goals and 4 assists, his value only rises further. At 34, the Atletico bosses can be calm, no one will try to buy him.

CM Kroos Real/Germany

Real had the best defensive line this season. Modric would have been there too, but injuries ruined his season, opening up a spot for Kroos. He had a bit more defensive duties than usual, but he managed everything well. With 7 assists.

LW CR07 Real/Portugal

His only rival here was Neymar. But the most productive player in La Liga couldn't be left out. 48 goals and 16 assists. Only the sky and Messi are higher.

RW Messi Barcelona/Argentina

This season Messi played much more frequently on the right flank than we were used to in recent years. And it suits him :). 43 goals, 18 assists - I'm almost certain it's the Golden Ball for him.

CF Benzema France/Real

Suarez missed almost a third of the season due to suspension. Griezmann is not a typical striker. So Benzema took the spotlight. 15 goals and 10 assists. Another great season.

Coach Nuno Espirito Santo Valencia/Portugal

After Emery, Valencia had three underperforming coaches - Pellegrino, Valverde, and Dukic. The decision to hire Nuno, a former goalkeeper who had worked only with Portuguese average clubs during his coaching career, was risky. But this former goalkeeper created a strong team that both attacked well and defended reliably. I'm willing to bet that in 2-3 years he will coach a superclub.

Rising Stars - Elche

I thought they would surely drop to the second division. A team of weak midfielders with nothing special. But they managed to take a respectable 13th place. There were many matches where they took the lead but couldn't hold on to the wins. If they were more stable, they could have maybe even reached the top ten.

Underperformers - Real Sociedad

I sincerely thought they had all the chances to return to the Champions League. Bravo, Griezmann, Seferovic left, but Rulli, Finnbogason arrived and the team didn't seem significantly weakened. However, only Moyes saved the season and slightly stabilized the results. The team was fightful and never gave up, but it didn't bring major victories.
