Blow to "Juventus" Team: G. Chiellini Suffered Cruciate Ligament Injury © JumpStory

The "Juventus" team received very unpleasant news - team captain Giorgio Chiellini suffered a serious knee injury.

The Italian champions announce that the 35-year-old defender was injured during Friday's training. After tests, it was revealed that the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee is damaged.

In the coming days, he will undergo knee surgery.

Due to this injury, G. Chiellini may be forced to miss a large part of the season. According to unofficial information, his rehabilitation could take up to six months.

G. Chiellini played his first game of the season last weekend, but it was likely his last this year.

One of the two newcomers this summer - Matthijs de Ligt or Merih Demiral - is expected to take over the position of team captain. "Juventus" also has Daniele Rugani as a reserve.

Good luck, Captain! Come back soon, even stronger than before! We are all with you! @chiellini pic.twitter.com/8x7lSKZV6o
