Defender Kevin Muscat, who officially ended his professional career due to his aggressive playing style, announced his decision at an emotional press conference in Melbourne, Australia. The 37-year-old Australian confirmed that after two decades in the game, he has decided to hang up his boots.
Muscat, who represented clubs such as Glasgow Rangers, Wolverhampton, Crystal Palace, and others, stated that he is retiring due to his inability to compete at the pace he desires.
However, Muscat, who has represented his country over 50 times, will perhaps be best known for his often brutal actions on the field, which caused suffering for his opponents.
The Australian has broken bones of players such as Christophe Dugarry, Craig Bellamy, and Matty Holmes. The latter even took him to court because of it. Ashley Young has also spoken about Muscat's threats on the field to "break legs" and "ruin careers."
