"Dortmund's „Borussia“, which will be led by the new coach Thomas Tuchel from next season, acquired the defensive midfielder Julian Weigl from the „1860 Munich“ team. The transfer fee was not disclosed.
The 19-year-old, previously linked to Turin's „Juventus“ and London's „Tottenham“, signed a four-year contract.
„Julian Weigl is a promising player who can strengthen the midfield," said the club's sporting director Michael Zorc. „We believe he has great potential.“
Weigl, who played 24 matches in the second division „Bundesliga“ this season, became the second acquisition of the new BvB strategist. Starting from next season, he will defend Dortmund's colors alongside Gonzalo Castro, who played for Leverkusen's „Bayer“ last year.
At the moment, Weigl is representing his country at the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
