On Friday evening, the eighth round matches of the German "Bundesliga" championship took place. In the city of Dortmund, the local team "Borussia" faced the league newcomers "Bochum". The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

On Friday at the "Signal Iduna Park" stadium, the mid-table German team "Borussia" met with the bottom-placed team "Bochum" in the league. It took the spectators half an hour for a goal to be scored. However, the first to score in this match were the visitors, as in the 31st minute "Bochum" player Theofanis Gekas, by beating "Borussia" goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller, put his team ahead.

But the home team remained determined and did not disappoint their fans. Just five minutes later, the score was level. After a pass from newcomer Alexander Frei, the ball was sent into the top corner of the goal by Polish national team striker Ebi Smolarek, who has already defeated opponents' goalkeepers three times in these championships.

In the second half, the guests "Bochum" players wanted to score more and climb out of the last place, but their chances were wasted and they had to settle for a draw.

After these equal matches, "Dortmund's" Borussia" with 12 points rose from seventh to fifth place in the standings, while "Bochum" has the same amount of points as "Hamburger" (5 points), but due to a worse goal difference, they remain in last place.

"Borussia" failed to overtake the teams occupying the first three places in the championship - "Werder", "Bayern", and "Schalke. On Saturday, these clubs will either improve or worsen their situation: Bremen's "Werder" will visit champions Munich's "Bayern", while "Schalke" will host "Hannover" players at home.
