The leader of the German championship, the Dortmund club, has signed a new contract with the excellent midfielder Mats Hummels, who is showing great sporting form.
The 22-year-old German, who has been called up to the national team, will wear the team's jersey until the summer of 2014.
Hummels took his first steps in his career at the Bayern Munich youth academy, but he couldn't break into the main team, so in 2008 he turned to Dortmund.
"Mats is an extremely important player with whom we have future plans. We are delighted to have signed a new contract," said sports director Michael Zorc.
This season, Hummels has started 24 Bundesliga matches in the starting lineup.
