Both "Barcelona" newcomers likely to debut in the King's Cup tournament.

End of 2015 is not far away, which means the FIFA ban on registering new players for the "Barcelona" club is coming to an end.

The Catalan club announced in the summer that they acquired Turkish national team midfielder Arda Turan and defender Aleix Vidal, who can play in both defensive and midfield positions. Both players signed contracts knowing that they could only debut with the new team in 2016.

Sanctions by FIFA against "Barcelona" for violations of rules regarding the registration of underage players will end on January 1 of the coming year, but both newcomers will still have to wait a bit.

The first Spanish league match in 2016 for "Barcelona" will be on January 2 against "Espanyol", but it is already clear that neither Arda Turan nor Aleix Vidal will appear in these matches.

New player registration begins on January 1, but it is New Year's Day and Spanish institutions will not be working on that day, including the country's football federation. Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal's documents will be submitted to "Barcelona" on January 2, but the registration will only take effect after a day.

On January 6, the first King's Cup quarter-final match will take place, so it is undeniable that both newcomers of the Catalan team will have the opportunity to debut in that match.

By the way, "Barcelona" must be cautious in registering players for the first UEFA Champions League quarter-final matches with London's "Arsenal" next summer.

In the last season's tournament, A. Turan, who at that time still defended the honor of Madrid's "Atletico", received two yellow cards in the second leg of the quarter-finals against Madrid's "Real" and was sent off the field. Thus, the Turkish player will have to miss the first close Champions League matches because the disciplinary sanction has moved to a new season.

What it means to register a player who cannot play was experienced firsthand by Madrid's "Real" this year. The Spanish capital's team registered Russian player Denis Cheryshev for the King's Cup match against "Cadiz", who not only appeared in the starting lineup but also scored a goal.

However, it soon became clear that the player could not participate in that match because he had to miss a game due to three yellow cards received in the previous season while representing the "Villarreal" club in the King's Cup.

The verdict of the Spanish Football Federation was merciless to Madrid's "Real" team: they were disqualified from the tournament for an illegal composition on the field under Rafael Benitez's leadership.
