Brazil managed to live up to the name of the favorites. In a thrilling World Cup match, spectators did not see another surprise. Brazil's national team beat Mexico 2-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals where they will face the winner of the Belgium and Japan pair.
Mexico finished their championship in the quarterfinals for the seventh consecutive time.
The first half started with quite an intense pace, and at the beginning of the match, Mexico's national team looked better. The Mexicans started the game actively, pressing the Brazilians, but couldn't create any dangerous situations.
However, Brazil's team could have scored already in the 25th minute when Neymar broke through the entire Mexican defense and took a dangerous shot at goal, but Guillermo Ochoa saved his team.
Eight minutes later, Gabriel Jesus managed to beat the opposing defense, but his shot went straight to the goalkeeper and G. Ochoa didn't have much trouble in that situation.
Immediately after the break, Brazil launched another dangerous attack, but this time Philippe Coutinho couldn't beat the goalkeeper.
Nevertheless, in the 51st minute, G. Ochoa couldn't save Mexico. Neymar received a great pass from Willian, put Brazil ahead, and finally took advantage of a dangerous opportunity.
Although after this episode the Mexicans started to play more with the ball, the only dangerous opportunities were still created by Brazil. In the 59th minute, Paulinho could have scored, but G. Ochoa once again saved his team.
A few minutes later, Willian created another chance for himself, but his shot was too strong and the ball flew over the goal.
And Brazil scored all the points in the last minutes of the match. Neymar penetrated the penalty area and with a weak but very accurate shot tried to beat the Mexican goalkeeper. However, G. Ochoa redirected the ball at the last moment, but it was directed towards Roberto Firmino's feet, who scored an easy goal.
