The Italian "Serie B" division club "Brescia", where Lithuanian national team defender Marius Stankevičius plays, has fired head coach Mario Somma and is preparing to bring in the fiery Serse Cosmi as his replacement.

"Brescia" is currently in the middle of the tournament table in the lower Italian league with 30 points, and the last straw for club president Gino Corioni was Saturday's goalless draw against "Verona" at home.

Somma's assistant coach Dario Marcolinas has been appointed as the interim coach, while former "Juventus", "Bologna", "Genoa", and "Venezia" coach Gigi Maifredi, as well as the well-known for his temperamental character Serse Cosmi, are considered favorites to take over the vacant coaching position.

"Brescia" president G. Corioni stated that he considers S. Cosmi as the most suitable candidate and is ready to offer him the job: "I am convinced that he is the right person for this job and I believe that he can lead us back to the highest level."
