Former German national team football player Hans Peter Briegel believes that the German football crisis is the responsibility of Pep Guardiola, who is currently working at Manchester City.
For the 47-year-old Catalan, German football is very familiar - the strategist worked for three years at Bayern Munich, whose players also represent the German national team.
Briegel believes that Guardiola's ball control-based game philosophy had a negative impact on the national team.
"It's his (Guardiola's) fault. He deceived us by saying that 75 percent ball control will help win matches," said the 63-year-old German.
"In football, the result is much more important than game control. Ball control does not guarantee victory, as France showed in this year's World Cup. You can win matches by returning to the old style of play. The most important thing is not the quality of the game, but maintaining balance," Briegel said.
